Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments, including mental status examinations, suicide/self-harm risk assessments, and behavioral evaluations

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and the interdisciplinary care team

• Administer medications safely via PO, IM, SQ, and IV routes, including psychotropic medications, while monitoring therapeutic effectiveness and adverse reactions

• Provide crisis intervention and utilize de-escalation techniques to manage acute psychiatric emergencies

• Implement and monitor safety protocols to protect patients and staff, including close observation, environmental safety checks, restraints, and seclusion when clinically indicated and in compliance with policy

• Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, medications, treatment plans, and coping strategies

• Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation in the EMR in accordance with regulatory and HIPAA standards

• Coordinate intake assessments, medication reconciliation, referrals to psychiatric and medical specialists, and discharge planning to support continuity of care

• Advocate for patients’ rights, dignity, and access to appropriate mental health services

• Promote trauma-informed, culturally competent care and support mental health awareness while helping reduce stigma
